We’ll share a little secret with you. The best beaches aren’t all in the South of France. The Côte d'Azur (French Riviera) is famed for luxury, stunning coastlines and unforgettable beaches but you’ll be fooled for discounting the rest of the France.
Here is our top 5 favourite destinations. Enjoy!
1. Prado Beaches, Marseille
If you can't bare to leave the city behind, transform your beach holiday around a city break. Marseille, the second biggest city in France is home to a huge variety of activities and the Prado Beaches, 3 small beaches beside the city centre. You get relaxation and city down time in one. Find restaurants with fresh sea food all over the coast, city centre and within every fisherman village. You won't regret it!
2. Calanque d'En Vau, Cassis
Our personal favourite, we recommend the small fishing village Cassis for explorers. Just 30 minutes from Marseille this beach getaway will charm you with steep cliffs, caves and inlets. You'll be rewarded with breathtaking views after long climbs up the cliffs. The most the enchanting feature of Cassis is its 3 Calanques, hidden beaches between high limestone walls with beautiful bodies of blue water. Climb down the mountain to find these hidden beaches, bring your snorkle!
3. Paloma Beach, Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat
Known for its dazzling landscapes this location was made for instagram. If you want exclusivity Paloma beach is the place to be. Half of the coast is reserved for the rich and famous and the other for normal holiday goers. You might spot a celeb or two behind your shades.
4. Île de Ré Beach
Île de Ré or “White Island” as it's known by the locals is famed for its soft light sand and painted waterfront houses. A peninsula off the western coast it is arguably one of the loveliest beaches in France, unpolluted and down to earth.
If you ever watched Mafiosa to top up your language skills you'll know this charming French territory in the mediterranean sea. Corsica is a small island with one of the most beautiful bays in Europe. You’re challenged to find more striking colors, serene beaches and clear water.
