What do Alicia Keys, Gwyneth Paltrow, Gisele Bundchen, and Monica Bellucci all have in common? They all said yes to the “no makeup” movement! The phrase "less is more" has never rung truer. "Part of my wanting to return to my true self is to stop imposing layers of make-up of my face," Alicia Keys explained in a recent interview, "As women, we need to accept ourselves for who we are and also accept that we're all different and there's no such thing as perfection when it comes to beauty. Beauty lies in our diversity.”
Bare & beautiful sounds amazing, but for those who are not ready to lay down the brush just yet (baby steps!) or if you love your make-up & feel empowered by it (power to you, girl!) here’s how to achieve a nearly-nude look that accentuates your features naturally - in four easy steps!
- Start By Healing Your Skin
First step: Great skin starts with great skincare. Pamper your assets by deep-cleaning your face twice a month and opting for plumping lotions. Nourish your face by massaging the cheeks to activate blood circulation.
- Moisturize & Reduce Shine
Begin by moisturizing your face with a day cream, then blot out any extra product on your T-zone. Then, use your fingers to put on a mattifying base, we recommend a cream gel formula! No need to treat your cheeks – keep them bright and radiant.
- Perfect Your Complexion
The basis of discreet make-up is an impeccable complexion. Choose a very thin liquid foundation and apply with a brush working the product towards the outside of your face. Apply a bit of concealer with your finger, if desired. Because we want this makeup to last throughout your busy day, gently pat a cream blush onto the cheeks for a fresh effect. Finally, put on a small sweep of ultra-fine powder with a big brush. Et voilà!
- Enhance The Eyes
Start by brushing your eyebrows and with light strokes, fill in any empty areas. For the eyelashes, just add a touch of mascara. It will lengthen the lashes without adding too much product to the overall look. No need to go over-the-top, the mascara should only lightly color your lashes!
